At Rhode Island School of Design, students are immersed in a culture of “critical making,” in which the hand and mind combine to envision and create essential objects, experiences and meaning. In The Art of Critical Making, published by Wiley and Sons, September 2013, RISD faculty and staff illuminate how RISD nurtures creative practice, from initial spark to finished outcome.
Join us for a very special panel discussion and book signing on Saturday, October 12,
from 3:30 – 5 PM in Lower Farago at The RISD Museum. Moderated by Patricia Phillips, the panel will feature three authors, Cas Holman, Kelly Dobson, and Eva Sutton, discussing how their chapters, written as guided “conversations” on Drawing, Materials and Critique, are so diversely implemented yet are essential to a RISD education. Books will be available for purchase after the event.
